UK Citizens

The British High Commission in Nicosia provides commercial and personal advice and aid to UK citizens visiting or resident in Cyprus. The website has comprehensive information for Britons, including: living and working in Cyprus, buying property in Cyprus, marriage in Cyprus and more.

The UK consular office is able to help citizens with many difficult emergency situations as well as with official procedures such as registration of births and deaths and, in certain cases, it may speak to local authorities on a UK citizen's behalf.

Note: The British High Commission in Nicosia no longer issue passports in Cyprus. The passport work is relocated to the UK Regional Passport Processing Centre at the British Consulate-General in Madrid. The entire passport process is done by post.

The British Government website has a section for Britons living abroad. The information is not specific to Cyprus but provides useful facts relevant to moving, relocating with a family or retiring abroad. It includes information on tax and pensions, education, employment, insurance, as well as issues to consider when returning to the UK after a period of time overseas.

United States Citizens

The Embassy of the United States in Nicosia has a comprehensive website with up-to-date information on news and events affecting US/Cyprus relations, health matters, and safety. The Embassy also hosts a fairly busy programme of activities.

The Consular Office of the Embassy of the United States in Nicosia provides extensive services to US citizens in Cyprus, including passport renewals and replacement, notarial services and information on obtaining a driver's licence, getting married in Cyprus and income tax forms among other things.
